Yellow Media CEO Marc Tellier acknowledges struggles with digital endeavours

MONTREAL - Yellow Media Inc.’s chief executive officer said he’s disappointed with how potential customers and the market in general has reacted to the company’s attempts to build new revenue models.

In recent years, Yellow Media has tried to grow new sources of revenue from its 103-year-old Yellow Pages business directory by adding display advertising on the web, as well as a slate of products to build websites and products to help market small and medium-sized companies on the Internet.

Last year the company purchased rebate aggregator Redflagdeals.com and began offering a daily deal on a new site called Deal of the Day. It also started a product called the 360 solution, where it offered services to businesses such as web listing, and website creation. It also launched Mediative, an advertising and digital marketing company. However, in the company’s earnings conference call Thursday, CEO Marc Tellier said so far the digital revenues have not made up for the drop in its print advertising revenue.
