NACIVT, founded in 1937, originated from a 9 man volleyball tournament in North American’s Chinatowns from the Providence team against the Boston players. The tournament was held outdoors and played on pavement, with the courts typically set-up in a large parking lot or even on the streets. With the increase in popularity in the Asian community, it has become a cultural phenomenon which seeks to build friendship liaisons between the Chinese societies in the North American soil. Each year, the tournament is held in different cities in United States and Canada.

“I was impressed with the attitude of the young people involved and saw how energetic and passionate they were. These young professionals and university students have worked hard to ensure the success of this upcoming event.” says the fundraising chairman, Annie Yu Chan, of NACIVT Montreal Association.

This year, Montreal has the pleasure of hosting the 67th Annual North American Chinese Invitational Volleyball Tournament, held at the Palais des Congrès, offers free admission to all.
