Forcier’s film about a shady real-estate developer and an ex-boxer isn’t the only homemade flick in the event.
Montreal’s Demian Fuica’s “La Run” – the story of a man who decides to break into the drug trade – will also be debuting.
The lone American entry is called “David” and is one of the most anticipated films in the event.
“David”, which comes from New York filmmakers Stephanie Levy and Joel Fendleman, is about a Muslim boy in Brooklyn who becomes friends with a group of Jewish boys at the community yeshiva.
France will be featured in the competition with the premier of “L’Art d’aimer" by director Emmanuel Mouret, and French actress Catherine Deneuve will receive a lifetime achievement award.
The festival will pay tribute to Victor Loewy and Ginette Reno and will also feature a special film presentation by Bertrand Tavernier.
The 11-day fest will feature 383 films from over 70 countries.
They will include 230 features and medium-length films – 51 of which are from North America and 107 from around the world.
There will also be 153 short films.
