Gaultier takes Montreal

The summer of Montreal’s love affair with Jean Paul Gaultier culminated Wednesday night with a world-class fashion spectacle as part of the Festival Mode & Design. A crowd in the many thousands packed McGill College Ave. as the French designer took his fall ready to wear collections for men and women – and a dozen or so cheeky, sublime and iconic haute couture creations – to Montreal.

The show kicked off with the sound track to James Bond. Then came the procession of distinctive models, professional, cast from the street and a few of Gaultier’s favourites: Tanel Bedrossiantz, muse and model to Gaultier for 26 years and 80 shows; Ève Salvail, the Montrealer known for her shaved tattooed head; and Francisco Randez, the first face of the fragrance Le Mâle.
The crowd was ecstatic.
